The senate is filled with racist bastards. Crooked politicians who care about the next election year and not the entire middle eastern world hating the U.S. Hey, why don't we block an international deal because the company involved is located in the middle east? I mean, a British company has managed the ports for a while now. Why didn't we stop them from managing the ports? Didn't terrorists come from Britain too? What about the idea that there are terrorists living in the U.S.? Do we stop U.S. companies from managing the ports too? I mean, there may be terrorists working for the Merkin companies too. Hell, why don't we round up all the turban-heads in the U.S. and put them in internment camps like we did to the Japanese? Or we could steal all their land from them and put them on reservations so they can develop the highest rate of alcoholism and suicide. That would be sweet too. They'd be much safer there. Plus, we wouldn't have to worry about them bombing our quaint, virtuous little country. Wake up, idiots.
Not all people that come from the middle east are terrorists. Shit, in Dearborn, MI there's probably the highest concentration of people of middle-eastern descent in the U.S. No terrorist activity in Dearborn. Unless they're secretly designing our cars to drive themselves off of bridges and cliffs at a predetermined time! Oh no everybody, stop driving your cars! They were designed by Arabs! I'm ashamed to be an American. Not because of the Bush administration, but because of the racist idiots who think they know more than the security analysts. Why don't you listen to reason and realize that if someone wanted to bomb the U.S., they wouldn't pay a billion zillion dollars and buy out a British company? I'm sure they have no interest in bombing the U.S. Sure, there were three people from the U.A.E. on the planes on 9/11, but their nationality has nothing to do with the U.A.E. government (about 3/4 of the way down on the page). Note the date of that article. Dubai Ports World does not have any direct interaction with port security and customs. That still remains in the hands of the Coast Guard and Customs Services. Actually, most of the workers will remain the same. It's a buyout, not a handoff.
I thought that it was the senators who just wanted to oppose the deal so when the next terrorist attack happened they could say "See, we were opposed to it the whole time!" I think that's still part of it, but I think maybe some of the senators are getting a kickback from the american company that's going to get the operations transferred to. This has gone too far. You can stop the charade, Mr. Senator, we get the point. Just let the people with sense do what is sensible. The security analysts oppose you. The Coast Guard disagrees with you. The port workers say they won't worry about it. Give it up. Stop making people hate the U.S. I think I'll vote for Mickey Mouse in the next round of elections.
I guess my main gripe is that you "progressives" still are frightened by someone of a different race. If the U.A.E. didn't hate the U.S. before, they sure as hell do now. Haven't we had enough racism and bigotry in the history of the U.S. that we don't have to do this all over again? Slavery, civil rights, the building of the railroads, western expansion and manifest destiny (killing native americans in the meantime), Japanese internment camps, German-Americans during WW2, womens' suffrage, etc… If we should be afraid of a race, we should be afraid of Americans. They have consistently proved to be the most bigotrous of all. Forget Bush, it's the American People who are the problem with the U.S.
God bless america, you racist bastards…
