I think if you've been reading this, you're either ryann or me.
My comments are all from myself and her. "I'm my biggest fan."
Anyway, mandy and I went to lunch with mandy's roommate courtney, courtney's preceptor and his wife (which is like a hands-on tutor for med students) today (how's that for conjunctions?). We went to this dingy little chinese place on federal. Just the way it should be. I ate squid (eew). It was a bit tough. We also had some other stuff… but the reason why I bring this up is because of the fortune I got in the fortune cookie. It said, "You have a quiet and unobtrusive nature." Man, whoever wrote that one really knew me.
I was going to buy a CD off of virginmega.com because I had a gift card that still has ~$20 on it from christmas from my exceedingly fashionable sister, pauline. Too bad the fine print on it says that I have to spend it all at a brick-and-mortar store. Suck. Now I have to run down to downtown denver and buy it. But it should be worth it. Beethoven's Missa Solemnis conducted by Klemperer, performed by the New Philharmonia Orchestra with Elisabeth Soderstrom, Martti Talvela, Waldemar Kmentt, Marga Hoffgen. Link here. I heard an excerpt on NPR earlier today while I was driving down to Mandy's to go to church. It was from the "Benedictus," and it represents the holy spirit descending into the world. It's a solo violin, clear, high and beautiful starting in the ether of its range and gracefully floating down to a flowing accompaniment of the four soloists. It almost brought me to tears. I'm a bit partial to beethoven. He carries weight and grandeur with ease, and is always painfully melodic. The tinges of the dawn of the romantic era. Wonderful stuff, it is. By the way, have you heard the one about Beethoven decomposing?
my stupid refrigerator is too loud. Actually, my whole apartment is too loud. I need to live in the country, where the air is clean, there are no neighbors for miles, and the driveway is 5 miles long, winding through ancient stands of oaks. Ahh…. listen to the silence… too bad I have tinnitus.
